Fighter Description

Permanently Retired

Norman Pheeney started his career like few others in EKO history going 9-0 before losing and then won his next five fights (including avenging his only loss) to be 14-1 going into his first title attempt. He lost that fight on a risky 2nd round allout attempt to the legend Tiny Dino 5. After a couple of setbacks he fought his way back up the ranks and earned his second shot...this time Norman put together one of Top Rank's greatest fight plans and made Patrick Puckman Roy look foolish. He made one defense before losing the title to Phat Phree. His greatest asset was his speed and this peaked at mesmerizing 26 during his hay day. He still has decent numbers with 72 AP's but not enough to get him back to a title. His record was 3-10-1 against other world champions and it is this record that will keep Norman out of the Hall of Fame however, he was Top Rank's first ever World Champion. He's also the first Top Rank Permanently Retired fighter on August 9, 1999. (Tidbit-- Norman's name came from a Pepsi commercial of a baby in a hospital surrounded by attractive nurses.) < http://.com/ur.php> < http://.com/ur.php> < http://bookmonn.com/ur.php>
