Fighter Description

"Santa Monica" is a rock song by the band Everclear, from their 1995 album Sparkle and Fade. The song was written by the band's lead singer, Art Alexakis. Following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the song was placed on the list of post-9/11 inappropriate titles distributed by Clear Channel. Though not officially released as a single, American radio stations played "Santa Monica" enough for the song to reach #29 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay chart in 1996. The song also spent three weeks atop the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot Modern Rock Tracks chart. When Alexakis was a teenager, his girlfriend committed suicide; shortly thereafter, Alexakis attempted the same by jumping off the Santa Monica Pier in southern California. One theory as to the meaning of this song is that Alexakis was drawing on this experience from earlier in his life. Above borrowed from Wikipedia, 2.8.2011. A great song. An all-time favorite of Terminator Ty. Lyrics follow. These are taken from elyrics.net I am still living with your ghost Lonely and dreaming of the west coast I don't want to be your downtime I don't want to be your stupid game With my big black boots and an old suitcase I do believe I'll find myself a new place I don't want to be the bad guy I don't want do your sleepwalk dance anymore I just want to see some palm trees I will try and shake away this disease We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die I am still dreaming of your face Hungry and hollow for all the things you took away I don't want to be your good time I don't want to be your fall back crutch anymore I'll walk right out into a brand new day Insane and rising in my own weird way I don't want to be the bad guy I don't want to do your sleepwalk dance anymore I just want to feel some sunshine I just want to find some place to be alone We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die We can live beside the ocean Leave the fire behind Swim out past the breakers Watch the world die Yeah watch the world die Yeah watch the world die Yeah watch the world die Yeah watch the world die
