Weekly commentary about the Upcoming World Title Fights

I'm currently not doing this (as is pretty obvious), things have been CRAZY BUSY at church, and I've been on the verge of going on hiatus from the game for a bit. Between VBS, Camp, Fundraisers, and a new baby that is less than a month away, I just don't have the time. Perhaps when I stop actively playing, I'll renew the commentary.

Heavyweight
Bonkers Bish (Balrog) vs. Ognyan Ailpen (DoD Mac)

Tough dancer matchup for me here. Edge going to DoD here, I think he’ll pull it outt.

Prediction: Ognyan Ailpen

Super-Middleweight

Master Thief (Demise) vs. Bill “God” Snyder (Fists)

Fists dancer squares off against Demise’s slugger. Honestly, I just don’t know that Demise can pull this one off, but on principle, I’m giving it to him, 51,49.

Prediction: Master Thief

Super-Lightweight
Barney Fife (Fists) vs. Sven Magnussen (suxel)

Should be a good fight, slugger vs. slugger here. Edge is going to suxel. Of course in these fights anything can happen, but experience says Fists is gonna have his hands full. Sven 60/40.

Prediction: Sven Magnussen

Lightweight
Ellis “Gone Fishing” Chandlee (Terminator Ty) vs. Nate Jacqua (psmith17)

Ty’s dancer vs. psmith’s slugger. Not looking good for Ty here. Psmith is not the guy you wanna fight when you’re a dancer, and he’s up 3 status points in this matchup. While I think this will be a good fight, I think psmith should win it. I look for him to take it here, but only by 55/45

Nate Jacqua

Super-Featherweight
Obadiah (BaptistPreach) vs. Duke of Cheezdom (Balrog)

Ever wonder what its like to be picked on? Obadiah will be able to tell you after this fight. Balrog’s guy is a slugger killer that is trying to become a legit dancer. You know you’re in trouble when the “dancer” you’re fighting has a higher KO% than most sluggers you’d fight. He’s higher rated, and if it weren’t for him giving me 10lbs in this fight, my chances would be 10%. That said, I do have 10lbs on him, and because of that my chances go up, but not by much. 70/30 here to Balrog, I only can look forward to doing the same thing to Balrog by putting Ehud in to fight him next week.

Prediction: Duke of Cheezdom

Super-Bantamweight
Gregory House (DoD Mac) vs. Eight Squared XII (psmith17)

Well, Dod’s 6/6 slugger vs. Psmith’s 7/11 dancer…. Is there really a need to write a commentary on this one? This week, all psmith’s fights are like this. He’s got some serious points of status in his favor. If Dod won this, it would be a miracle, and worthy of some award. However, I don’t think he will, and the fact that psmith could have 18 extra ap’s to Dod’s 13, um yeah. 90/10 to psmith.

Prediction: Eight Squared XII

Flyweight
Gideon (BaptistPreach) vs. Eight Squared III (psmith17)

Well, my dancer vs. psmith’s. Wait, psmith gets 3 extra points of status! Wow! What a …. Bad thing for me. I’m not great with dancers, and to win this, I’d have to be legendary. MAJOR advantage to psmith here, he’s also great with dancers. 75/25 in his favor.

Prediction: Eight Squared III

Light-Flyweight
Douglas “crackin” McCrakken (Jedi_Jay) vs. Madelyn “The Coyote” Goos (Terminator Ty)

Good dancer fight here, however this matchup looks to me to favor Jedi big time. If Ty wins this, it will take a 1. Really dumb dumb plan on Jedi’s part, and 2. A really great pla on Ty’s part. However, Jedi is very capable of doing #1, so anything’s possible. 65/35 to Doug “crackin”

Prediction: Douglas “crackin” McCrakken

Toughman
The Balance Beam (BaptistPreach) vs. Maxofillial Reconstruction (The Coroner)

Should be a good fight. I'm giving up a lot of weight and status to Coroner, so he should win it, but I'm gonna give me an edge that way I don't lose all my WT fights this week. 55/45 Balance Beam

Prediction: The Balance Beam

Fights of the Week!
  • Cruiserweight – The student faces the teacher as I face my mentor in what is sure to be a very painful… I mean memorable experience for me. And by memorable, I mean getting my fighter ground to powder.

  • Light Heavyweight – Ooooh, this should be interesting. Balrog and Kiz face off for round 2 but this time the arena has moved from Cruisers to LHW. Both of these fighters wanna REALLY win, so when two great dancer managers go at it, it always promises to be memorable.

  • Welterweight – Rubber match happening, but will it just be watching Richard Pryor punch on Troy McLure like he’s rubber??
Other unique things about this week?
  • I shot my first hog
  • Jedi Jay and Grubba are trying to capture their first WT this week.
  • The fish have been biting very well, and we caught 38 crappie today!

Scheduled for 4/10/10

Cruiserweight
Mordecai (BaptistPreach) vs. One Flew West (Demise)

Well, the teacher faces his student. Lets just say I’d really like to win the Cruiser belt. I’d LOVE to win it. I’d LOVE to win it with Mordecai, but let’s just say it ain’t gonna happen. I’m giving it to my mentor here 70/30. Not a good matchup for me.

Prediction: One Flew West
Result: Mordecai - KO 2

Light-Heavyweight

Kiz Heavy (Kiz-PBF) vs. Hidden Identity IX (Balrog)

WoW, this is a grudge match if ever there was one. Balrog and Kiz have definitely had some less than friendly exchanges in the forums, and the last time these two fought it was for the Cruiser title and it ended in a draw. Balrog went on to win the Cruiser title and Kiz went on to win the Light Heavy Title. Now they go at it again. Only difference is that Balrog is up one AP. However, this is not the best matchup for Balrog, I’m going to give the slight edge to Kiz here, although one thing is for sure, this should be a close fight, and ANYTHING could happen. Kiz Heavy 52/48 here.

Prediction: Kiz Heavy
Result: Hidden Identity IX - 115-113 (x3)

Super-Middleweight
Master Thief (Demise) vs. “Cool Hand” Luke Skywalker (Jedi Jay)

The Jedi is trying again for a WT. His persistence is admirable, but his selection is horrible ?. There’s just not much promise for Jedi against Master Thief. At least this time the fight is even rated, but I’m still going with Master Thief 65/35. If Jay pulls it off, the amount of bragging he will do would just be unbearable. So please Demise, for the sake of TBG, beat him down like a red-headed stepchild (again!). Maybe this time Cool Hand will learn.

Prediction: Master Thief
Result: Master Thief 115-113(x2); 115:112

Middleweight
Martin Bucer (psmith17) vs. Felix Wolf (Coroner)

Psmith’s already beat Felix Wolf 2 other times. I don’t see the third time being the charm for him here. Bucer 70/30.

Prediction: Martin Bucer
Result: Martin Bucer - 120 -80 (x3)

Super-Welterweight
Bill the Cat (DoD Mac) vs. Harry Braun (Suxel)

Well, Bill the Cat FINALLY secured the last division for the Duke of Dorkdom to secure his WT sweep, however Suxel has brought out an 11/14 for Dod’s 11/11. I believe Suxel’s dancer is just going to be too much to handle. I also don’t think it’s an accident that Suxel brought him out for Dod’s guy. That said, sometimes cuts happen. Without them though I’m going to say Harry Braun 60/40.

Prediction: Harry Braun
Result: Harry Braun - KO 11

Welterweight
Richard Pryor (Demise) vs. Troy McClure (The Coroner)

Richard Pryor has his rubber match with the Coroner this week! First time Troy won by KO in round 10, last time Pryor won by KO in round 10. What will happen this time? I’m pretty sure Pryor will prevail. He’s up rating this fight, and the 3 AP swing will be too much for Troy to handle this go around. Although, I like to watch these fights because 1. you never know what could happen. 2. This is a potential history hall of fame fighter of Demise. 70/30 to Richard Pryor

Prediction: Pryor
Result: Richard Pryor - KO 12

Super- Lightweight
Barney Fife (Fists) vs. Eugene “The Boss” DePasquale (Grubba)

Well, lookie here! Grubba is fighting for a WT! Some managers may not know Grubba, but I know him fairly well since we’re from the same region and we’ve fought quite a few times. If I have a fighter that gets stuck in rut, I will retire him or dump him, but for some reason, Grubba just keeps fighting with the same guys. His fighter is 2/3 rated and has fought 57 fights. Grubba – making new fighters is free now, so retire some of your walking corpses, and get some fresh blood in the ring! I just think Fists slugger is going to be too much to handle. Grubba, congrats on your first WT fight, and best wishes, but I’m going 70/30 here to Fists slugger.

Prediction: Barney Fife
Result: Barney Fife - KO 7

Lightweight
Mick Jacks (Suxel) vs. Ellis “Gone Fishing” Chandlee (Terminator Ty)

I almost missed this one, but thanks to Balrog, I’m giving the edge to Ty here. Style matchup goes to Ty, and as long as his fp is solid, he should win. I know what I expect Suxel to do here, but Suxel is good about being one of the greatest dancer managers, so you can’t count him out. This will be a BIG win for Ty if he pulls it off tho. 60/40 to Ty.

Prediction: Ellis “Gone Fishing” Chandlee
Result: Ellis Chandlee - 115 - 113 (x2); Draw; Split Decision

Super-Featherweight
Obadiah (BaptistPreach) vs. Adversary (The Coroner)

My slugger has actually already

Heavyweight
Needadiet Smith VII (psmith17) vs. Ognyan Ailpein (DoD Mac)

This is a rematch of a fight that last week psmith had pretty well won, but a final round allout lost it for him. While last week this was his fight, I think being down 3 ap’s (possibly 4), this is just too steep of a path to climb. I’m going with Dod’s really weird named fighter, 60/40 though. Of course like any dancer dancer matchup, a perfect fp can pull out the win

Prediction: Needadiet

Cruiserweight
Hidden Identity IX (Balrog) vs. One Flew West (Demise)

This is not an easy one. Balrog’s guy is 14/19, so the extra status has got to give him some needed ap’s against Demise’s slugger. What happens when a top dancer manager faces a top slugger manager? Well, this fight is what happens. While I never bet against Demise, part of me thinks this dancer is just too much to handle. Nonetheless, I’ll give him the win 51/49

Prediction: One Flew West

Light-Heavyweight

Herculez Gomez (psmith17) vs. Kiz Heavy (Kiz-PBF)

Last week psmith mopped up balrog’s Rahl in quick time, this week he faces a higher rated Kiz Heavy dancer. Quite frankly, I think Kiz can be beaten, but not when he’s the higher rated status fighter. Someone is going to need to bring out a higher rated fighter to turn the tables on this dancing fool. As much as psmith is a GREAT dancer killer, I’m going to have to go Kiz Heavy 70/30

Prediction: Kiz Heavy

Super-Middleweight
Master Thief (Demise) vs. pete thes Dragon (DoD Mac)

Well, this might be one for the record books. Apparently Dod got scheduled for a WT fight, and then the resolver accidentally put him in a scheduled fight. This is NOT good news for the dragon. Now he’s facing a 9/9 slugger at 7/8. This fight shouldn’t even be allowed, or Dod’s guy at least given back his rating, otherwise there’s just no chance for him here. As is, I’m going 75/25 in favor of the Master Thief.

Master Theif

Super-Welterweight
Bill the Cat (DoD Mac) vs. Duke of Orange City (psmith17)

The dukes collision!!
Dod’s strong slugger vs. psmith’s strong and one inch taller slugger. This is not an easy week to pick them! I say the advantage here goes to psmith for a couple reasons. 1. Weight = due to his extra weight, psmith is going to have a gross .8 increase in str when the bell rings. 2. Ap’s = being 10/13 gives him an extra help. 3. Style, while being the shorter slugger is usually better, in this case it’s a problem because it’s hard to say who has more str. I def. wouldn’t rule Dod out of this one, but I’ll go 55/45 to the Duke of Orange City taking over the Duke of Dorkdom on this. As long as psmith uses a solid fp, I think he’s got this one.

Prediction: Duke of Orange City

Super-Featherweight
Obadiah (BaptistPreach) vs. No Name III (DoD Mac)

I honestly haven’t scouted Dod’s guy much, but his record is quite intimidating, 13-2 with 6 KO’s and only ONE time being KO’d, and that was a WEIRD dancer fight. However, I really want Obadiah to win, so I’m going to go with him, but I think this will be a good fight to watch. I’m certainly not confident, but I’ll say 53/47

Prediction: Obadiah

Super-Bantamweight
Ace Rockman (ZWIP) vs. Louis Mclane (psmith 17)

HMMM…. Zwip’s higer rated and status slugger or psmith’s. Without going thru the arduous process of scouting the older fighter (zwip), I’m gonna say ZWIP here just due to ap #’s.

Prediction: Ace Rockman III

Light-Flyweight
Florentino Fernandez (DoD Mac) vs. Goos Hunter (Fists)

Still working in it….

Prediction: Fists SHOULD win

Strawweight
Floyd “Pretty Boy” Mayweather (Kiz PBF) vs. Adriano de Trajecto (DoD Mac)

Well, for all the calling Kiz a fight picker, he sure didn’t pick this one very well. Dod’s balanced guy against kiz’s slapper. This is a no brainer. I’m going 90/ 10 to Dod here

Prediction: Adriano de Trajecto

Got a busy day tomorrow morning, but later in afternoon, I'll fill in the commentary section, and predictions - God willing.

Heavyweight
Needadiet Smith III (psmith17) vs. Ognyan Ailpein (DoD Mac)

Prediction: Needadiet

Cruiserweight
Kiz Heavy (Kiz-PBF) vs. Clint “Midnight Lover” Goos

Prediction: Kiz Heavy

Light-Heavyweight

Master (The Coroner) vs. Rahl (Balrog)

After last week beating Fists dancer – who looked to have had a fight plan error for the first 5 rounds and just covered up, now we see Master face off against Rahl, a higher rated dancer. Stylistically, this is a bad matchup for Balrog, seeing as Master has more speed. HOWEVER, if Balrog does some scouting, he will find how to win this fight, and I think he will.

Prediction: Rahl

Heavyweight
Bruce Wayne (Tau Kappa and Omicron & Co) vs. Fiftytwoweeksstraight (DoD Mac)

A great slugger vs. slugger matchup here! Dod’s been wanting to get this guy back into the top spot in HW now ever since his dancer got beat by King Cogne. Now he’s got his chance. While TKO has done a good job of winning against 2 very difficult opponents – Balrog’s dancer and Suxel’s slugger – I think his streak comes to a halt here. I definitely think his chances of winning go up if he actually realizes there’s a title fight he’s scheduled for, but either way I expect him to flail and I think Dod does too. I’ll say 70/30 to the 52. I also am hopeful that this win will bring some other HW contenders out and make for some other great fights in the future.

Prediction: Fiftytwoweeksstraight

Cruiserweight
One Flew West (Demise) vs. Aaron "The Abstract" Arcella (The Coroner)

Last week the Coroner pulled out a great win and beat a lower ranked Fists slugger by ONE point (113-112). This week he faces a higher ranked Demise slugger, and I fear it is too much for the dancer to handle. One Flew West should win this fight as he is managed by the premier slugger manager in the game (who also happens to be my mentor – have I mentioned that?). I don’t expect much fanfare here or dragging the fight out, probably in the 8-10th round we’ll see a KO. 70/30 to the Western Flyer

Prediction: One Flew West

Light-Heavyweight

Bill "God" Synder (Fists) vs. Ernest Guyer (The Coroner)

Fists dancer defends his title for the third time, this time against another Coroner slugger. Perhaps the Coroner is seeking revenge for his last loss, but it seems that he pulled out a nearly identical fighter, but one who just weights less. I don’t see this fight ending any differently than last weeks, and Fists dancer is just a really tough guy to beat, especially if you’re a slugger! Coroner, bring out a fast dancer next time! It will greatly improve your odds. Once again, 70/30 here to Billy Snyder.

Prediction: Bill "God" Synder

Super-Middleweight

Master Thief (Demise) vs. Clifford “The Big Red” Chris (Jedi Jay)

Here we have a higher rated slugger of Demise facing off against what I’d call a typical Jedi dancer. By the way, congrats for making it to the commentary Jedi! You wanted a title shot, now you’ve got it! Only one problem, you did it against a higher rated Demise slugger? Are you nuts?! The Big Red is still a tough fighter to beat, he’s got good speed, and he’s never been KO’d but I think he’s biting off more than he can chew with the ap’s he losing and add into the fact he’s giving up 6 lbs to his opponent. I just don’t see how the Master Thief will get robbed. Nonetheless, I’ll say 60/40 to the Thief

Prediction: Master Thief

Middleweight
Martin Bucer (psmith17) vs. Felix Wolf (The Coroner)

Martin is just an inch shorter then Felix, and both are sluggers. This should be a great fight, with Felix being higher rated (14/17 vs. 13/13). Once again, the Coroner seems after revenge for last week. I can’t put my finger on it exactly, maybe it’s the 12 KO’s that Coroner’s had, or the fact he’s fought 67 fights, but I just think he’s too washed up to beat Martin. 60/40 here, and Martin with a solid win.

Prediction: Martin Bucer by KO

Super-Welterweight
Jermaine Taylor (Kiz-PBF) vs. Brendan “Puckman” Shanahan (ZWIP)

Prediction: Jermaine Taylor

Head to Head

Fights of the Week!
  • Super Welters - Kiz's Last Stand? The last remaining division that DoD needs to capture a WT in. Will Kiz be able to stop the Legend in his quest another week?

  • Super Feathers - Super Suicide? My slugger against Bill's dancer. Why is this here? Because Bill's one of the all time greatest dancer managers, and it will be a miracle if I win this one. Besides, a bulleted list really needs at least 3 points to look right.

  • Flyweight - Anyone smell a Rubber Match? When one of the best slugger managers takes on one of the best dancer managers, it's always a great fight, except this time, it's the third time that they will be fighting!

  • Strawweight - Slow Dance or Slap Fest? Very interesting dancer matchup with a higher ranked slower dancer vs. lower ranked speedy dancer
Other unique things about this week?
  • The Coroner is fighting in what seems like every division for a WT this week
  • As of this week, the S/A and build are being hidden
  • That also means the job of giving thoughts about upcoming title fights just got a lot harder
  • There are LOTS of Title fights this week (10!)

Scheduled for 2/27/10

Cruiserweight
Eric "Hammer" Hosmer (Fists) vs. Aaron "The Abstract" Arcella (The Coroner)

This is a tough one to predict, but I believe Coroner's guy is a dancer and SHOULD be able to beat Fists based on the weight advantage and what should be a few extra ap's to Coroner as well. However, some times Fists knows how to catch lightning with his fp's and sometimes he doesn't. Fists best chance lies in the fact that he's facing an older fighter (40+ fights from 2001-2007). I'm saying 55/45 in favor of Coroner.

Prediction: Aaron "The Abstract" Arcella
Result: Aaron "The Abstract 113-112 (x3)

Light-Heavyweight
Bill "God" Synder (Fists) vs. Big Pig (The Coroner)

Fists dancer vs. Coroner's slugger. Though Coroner's guy is up a rating and a status for this fight, I still like Fists to win this. His dancer is just really good here. There's a reason Fists had him on a 14-1 run, and if he fights this fight like he fought against Bill's slugger last fight, he should win it comfortably. The only problem Fists COULD have is if Coroner uses some of his good speed to try for rounds, but as long as the fight plan is flail safe, I like Fists 70-30 here.

Prediction: Bill "God" Synder
Result: Bill "God" Synder - KO 12

Middleweight
Martin Bucer (psmith17) vs. Killer Ant (The Coroner)

Psmith's slugger vs. Coroner's dancer? I hate fighting guys who have no scout-able history! Though Coroner is up rating and status here too, the prediction's going to Martin Bucer. For one, Coroner's guy is pre 2001 so he's lacking some extra AP's the newer fighters (ie Martin) have. Also, psmith is just a really tough manager to beat, and he's really tough to beat when you're a dancer. He always has the threat to take you by points or KO. I think if he tries for the KO here, he can have it, but again, with psmith, you just don't know! 70/30 in favor of Martin here.

Prediction: Martin Bucer by KO
Result: Martin Bucer - KO 8

Super-Welterweight
Jermaine Taylor (Kiz-PBF) vs. Leonard Robinson (Dod Mac)

This fight has incredible potential. Kiz is a much less experienced manager, but technically speaking, he has the edge here as far as style matchups. If I had to pick which fighter to have, I'd rather have Taylor here. He is made better to beat a dancer (ie speed!). The problem ultimately is this: Dod has won WT's in ever division now except this one. Last week some pesky slugger caught him with his trunks down, and this week I think he'll be more careful. I believe this fight will be very close, but ultimately, I'm liking dod about 55/45 just due to the fact he REALLY wants it. I definitely say that with the right fp, kiz can give Robinson the blue belt, but time will tell!

Prediction: Dod by a narrow decision
Result: Jermaine Taylor - 116-112; 116-113; Draw - Split Decision

Welterweight
Richard Pryor (Demise) vs. I Complain To Much (ZWIP)

Demise's super slugger vs. ZWIP's dancer's dancer. ZWIP is up a rating and 2 status on Demise. The problem for Mr. Complainer is two fold here. First he has speed that makes him better suited for dancers. Second, he's fighting against Richard Pryor! The guy is 14-0! Who do I think will win? Pryor! Why? Because I think Demise is THE premier slugger manager in the game. Am I biased because he is my mentor? Of course not! .... well maybe just a little. Either way, with all due respect to ZWIP, this is just not a fighter you want to tangle with. I'm going Demise 90/10 here.

Prediction: Pryor by KO
Result: Richard Pryor KO 12

Lightweight
Martino "El Diablo" De Laroyas (The Coroner) vs. Red Kryptonite IV (Tau Kappa and Omicron & Co)

Jude's stronger slugger vs. Coroner's presumably more agile slugger. Coroner's r/s is (10/15) vs. TKO's (9/11). Style advantage should go to Coroner here. I'm just not too used to seeing the Coroner handle sluggers, although I know he's had a lot of experience with them (and probably about all types of fighters as long as he's been here) whereas all TKO runs is sluggers nowadays. As long as the Coroner makes his plan flail safe and doesn't get killed by cuts, even though he's 2 pounds overweight I think he should have it I'll go 55/45. Warning to the Coroner: TKO is a like a slippery eel! Don't take this fight for granted.

Prediction: Martino by decision
Result: Martino KO 5

Super-Featherweight
Obadiah (BaptistPreach) vs. Willie Lewis (Bold Bill)

My slugger vs. Bill's dancer. Technically speaking, my guy is made to do pretty decent against dancers, but Willie Lewis has only been KO'd 2 times. Both of them were 5 years ago! The othe

Not bad for the first time!

I was 9-2 on my predictions with Kiz pulling out a very nice win and Balrog edging out Demise. In both cases the decisions were split, and the fights were great!
